Clay Griessmeyer

Not a Member of Our Firm—Just a Friend You Want in Your Corner

Clay Griessmeyer isn’t a member of McCarthy Motorcycle Law, but he’s a trusted ally, a longtime friend, and one of the toughest trial lawyers we know. We love to work with him, so he gets a spot here.

He’s been fighting for people injured while riding on two wheels—bicycles, motorcycles, you name it, since 2008. If it rolls and it crashes, chances are Clay has helped someone get justice after it happened.

Clay is a trained trial lawyer with substantial courtroom experience in both personal injury and criminal defense. He’s won jury verdicts in both areas—including what is believed to be the largest bicycle injury jury verdict in Wisconsin history: over $15.1 million. That case wasn’t a fluke. It was the result of years of dedication, grit, and courtroom skill.

He’s appeared in courts in at least 20 counties across Wisconsin and handled cases in Southern California. He’s licensed in both Wisconsin and California, and he's never—not once—represented an insurance company or worked for a defense firm. His entire career has been built on helping real people, never the big guys.

Clay doesn’t just talk the talk—he rides the ride. He’s a year-round bicycle commuter, an active racer in cycling, triathlons, and running events, and a local and statewide bicycle advocate. He served six years on the board of the Wisconsin Bike Federation, including time as Secretary of the Board, and has volunteered for Free Bikes for Kids Madison. He even plows a local bike path in the winter—just to keep it open for others.

He’s represented injured riders in everything from traffic tickets to fatal crashes. Whether it’s road rash, broken bones, a concussion or traumatic brain injury, or wrongful death, Clay brings the same care and fire to every case, always with a focus on people over profits. Clay Griessmeyer’s results speak for themselves.

Outside of the courtroom, Clay is a married father of two young kids and one dog. His resume includes stints as a bartender, bouncer, concrete laborer, lifeguard, swim coach, and elementary school teacher—real-life jobs that help explain why he connects so well with juries and clients alike.

Clay is a force in the courtroom and a friend to the riding community across Wisconsin. He may not be a part of our firm—but if you get the chance to work with him, you’re in excellent hands.
